Veteran singer, song writer and performer GARY SWAN gave his first organ recital at age twelve after two music lessons. Two years later he began his professional career playing six nights a week in local clubs. Before he would turn twenty-one he was off touring with Steam (Na Na Na Kiss her Goodbye) and with legendary Jackie Wilson.
He schooled himself by learning every record he could get his hands on from Jazz to Country Music. This diverse training enabled him to perform Country music at the Grand Old Opry for the Country music awards, fly to Europe to sub for ailing keyboardist for the world famous Gypsy Kings and back to Los Angeles to provide the signature Hammond Organ sound for the Motown late great Mary Wells.
Gary's humorous and up tempo personality was no doubt the reason he worked as musical director for Tommy Chong (That seventy show & Cheech & Chong). "Comedy is an excellent tool in getting people to feel comfortable in certain solo settings." explains Swan. As a solo pianist his seasoned knowledge of entertaining and endless song list keeps the customers by the piano till closing. Gary says his biggest asset is the ability to read an audience. "Play to the room! You just have to know a couple thousand songs."
